Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructor
Rob is the Senior Partner at Carrilon and has over 25 years experience in Game
Fishing.
Rob holds the original, Salmon & Trout Association National Instructor's
Certificate (STANIC) in both Trout Fishing & Fly Tying catagories and is also
an Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructor (APGAI) having been with the
Game Angling Instructor's Association (GAIA) since its inception.
He is also one of only 9 original Regional Coach Tutors appointed by Sport England
expressly to Teach Fly Fishing Instructors in the UK.
Rob offers all sorts of Tuition .. and has a huge advantage in that his day-job
as a fly-fishing retailer means that on a daily basis, he is using, trying, testing
and assessing all the tried and tested as well as the latest, state of the art
tackle.
He is thus hugely well placed to give a working and honest opinion on just about
anything you desire....
One-to-One
Ideal for Beginners and also improving fisherman who wish to extend their skills
in a quiet, relaxed manner.
Rob effectively teaches the proper basic skills and theoretical understanding
of both Roll-Casts and Overhead Casts.
With this as a good foundation, Improvers can then move on to master a wider
range of casts that will hugely increase their repertoire and skills on rivers,
saltwater flyfishing and piking, etc.
One-to One sessions are also ideal for those wishing to acquire and master Single
and Double-Haul techniques, Snake Rolls, Shooting Heads, etc.
Group/Club Demos & Workshops
Rob refers to this as 'Group Therapy'... ideal for Clubs, Syndicates or groups
of friends...
These sessions include demos of modern casting theory and practice with the chance
to use the very latest gear, often include working together in 'Pairs' to spot
and assist each others weaknesses and skills.
Guiding..
For those who want to get to grips with the whole thing, Rob will take you for
Half Or Whole Days out fishing..
Stillwaters, Bank Fishing, Boat Fishing, Rivers... all tailored to your specific
requirements..
These sessions involve tactics, knots and all sorts to improve and enhance your
fishing enjoyment..

A large proportion of Rob's tuition is by way of Tuition packages which make excelent Birthday, Xmas, Thank You or Retirement
Gifts..
They can be purchased as a 'Tuition Gift' - available as a Voucher, complete
with a Card which can 'customised' to the occasion and/or recipient as appropriate..

Fly Fishing Courses..
Rob has started a programme of One Day Courses and details of these are in the
'Fly-Fishing Courses' page on the website.. These variously cover Casting, Tactics,
Fly Tying, Filleting/Smoking demos, etc. and you will certainly be able to choose
a Course to suit your needs..
They are huge fun... give you the chance to meet like-minded folks and are often
'Sponsored' by Manufacturers so you get the chance to try some of the latest gear..
But don't delay... these Courses often get pre-booked and filled way in advance..
Most of these One Day Courses are £50 and fully include Tea/Coffee, lunch, etc..
Fly Tying Classes..
Rob & Tony Scurrell run a Fly Tying Class at Carrilon's Store at Bawtry..
from October - March each winter.
All fly-tyers are welcome regardless of how good you are.. and we can provide
tools and vices for Beginners until they decide to purchase their own..
Thursday evenings.. 6:30 to 9:30pm - £5 per session, with many materials supplied
each evening.
Approx 20 weeks..
A Colour Brochure containing at least 20 pages with Step-by-Step instructions
on how to tie the patterns featured is £10 and supplied as the Course proceeds.
